2014 | Project Sihanoukville 4

As a student volunteer, I developed, adapted and executed an English conversational programme in Don Bosco Technical and Hotel Schools, Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

It was also a cultural exchange. The students I taught during the day had also shared their Khmer New Year festivities with us.

Facilitating activities during one of our stopovers at Kampong Khleang.

Project Sihanoukville 4 is an overseas community involvement project I completed in my first year at Singapore Polytechnic. During the project, my team and I developed and executed an English conversational programme for students in Don Bosco Technical and Hotel Schools in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

I am proud to have gone through Project Sihanoukville 4. It is among my first efforts to challenge my craft in facilitating a classroom programme with a group of students and the experience has been rewarding in my development as a drama facilitator. The lesson plans and reflection piece are testaments to my diligence in ensuring the delivery of an optimal educational experience during and after the lesson.

Yong Xiang has a heart for people and this altruism translates to a visible personal motivation to want to do his best during the project. His commitment and determination to see things through were personally uplifting to us, as project leaders, to witness.
